Riya joined MRN in May 2024, after graduating from the University of Manchester in 2023 with an LLB. Early in her career, she explored different areas of law, seeking a role that combined legal analysis with practical problem-solving. This led her to discover costs law, a unique and specialised field. Intrigued by the variety of the work, Riya took the opportunity to join the costs team.

Riya finds the role both challenging and rewarding. She enjoys the technical nature of the work, the continuous learning opportunities, and being part of matters that make a real difference to clients. Notably, she successfully negotiated a Bill of Costs down to 60% of the original amount claimed, demonstrating her skill and commitment to achieving positive outcomes for clients.

Outside the office, Riya makes time for the things that keep her motivated and balanced. Going to the gym helps her stay active and unwind after a busy day. She also spends time with friends and family – whether it’s a coffee, a meal, or a day out.
