Lewis Hindley is an experienced Costs Draftsman with a career in legal costs spanning more than thirty years. Before joining MRN on 1 September 2026, Lewis spent fourteen years at NewLaw Solicitors and six years at Hugh James Solicitors, holding senior drafting roles at both firms. Over the course of his career, he has worked across a wide range of costs matters, preparing bills of costs for Clinical Negligence, catastrophic injury, brain injury, EL/PL, OPL and industrial disease claims, as well as complex Multi Track matters. He has also been heavily involved in costs budgeting, preparing detailed budgets and negotiating them prior to CCMC hearings.

Lewis brings a depth of technical knowledge that allows him to maximise costs recovery for client firms. He prides himself on accuracy, thoroughness and ensuring that the full extent of work undertaken on a file is properly captured and presented. His experience includes preparing several high value Group Litigation bills, notably the NHIL test case bill against British Telecommunications and a bill exceeding £1 million for claimants opposing the development of an additional runway at Manchester Airport.

He is passionate about costs work, valuing its technical nature and the opportunity it provides to deliver strong results for clients. His decades of experience, combined with his meticulous approach, enable him to provide a high level of service and ensure that costs are recovered efficiently and effectively.

Outside of work, Lewis is an accomplished brass musician. He plays for Mid Rhondda Band, Barry Brass Band and the St. Athan Brass Quintet alongside his wife and is part of the management team for Mid Rhondda Band. He has performed at the Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall and at the British Open in Symphony Hall - two of the most prestigious contests in the brass band calendar. When not performing, he enjoys socialising with friends, taking part in quizzes and reading.
